Got the 7.3 back from the tranny shop a few weeks ago, and now it seems something is wrong with the motor.
I am affraid it is an injector issue. Seems to have lost some power, but most noticable is when I pull up to a stop. It seems to idel rough and when I go to take off from the stop it is rough for a couple seconds untill about the time the turbo kicks in then it smooths out but still seems to have a loss of power not dramatic loss but seems noticable to me.
A couple of buddies that where following me also said it looked like it puffed a little white smoke sometimes. So I had a look and had him rev it up in nutral and it seemed to puff just a little bit when he would let off of it. While at idle the exhaust seemed pretty hot to me also. I dont have a gauge so not sure how hot.
Like the sig says it is an early 99 208k and I use it daily to pull an enclosed work trailer.
Thanks for any and all advice.
Joe
To be honest I am not exactly sure what an AE is but I am assuming it is a diagnostic hook up of some sort and NO unfortunatley I do not, and I am guessing that is what it is going to take. Guess I am looking at Monday or Tuesday before I can get it to a stealership or someone who has one.

From what I have read on here in the past that is what I was thinking also. When I changed the fuel filter the other day the fuel looked a little diffrent. Is there a way I can tell. I know that the O rings would mean coolant in the fuel right?

No I wouldnt say it looked like oil in it. For some reason it just seemed like it was a little cloudier than usual. Hell I dont know.
How hard is it to change the O rings?. I need to go back and look at my favorites I might have the procedure saved. Not sure.
Man I love this place hardly ever takes very long to get some leads.
thanks ALL
Joe
I cant really afford for this thing to be down for to long. How long would it take to change the O rings??
Anyone around Kansas City with an AE that can hook it up on a sunday????
Where would be the best place to buy an AE? Since there is that many miles on the injectors would it be wise to think about replacing the injectors instead of just doing O-Rings? Maybe replace the cups while I am in there?? I am not really looking to make crazy power since it is my work truck just want some reliability and longevity. What would be the best way to go at this point??
Is it imparitive that I stop driving this? Is this going to cause a major issue if I drive it anymore. At least to someone that can tell me what is wrong?
O K I have been looking around. If I have to replace injectors what else would I need if I where to get stage one remans from Clay? And would I have to have the other stuff immediatley? I was planning on getting some exhaust but this might set that back a little while. If I have to replace injectors I am sure it would be a good idea to replace the cups as well correct???
Thanks again guys

Some say yes for the cups and some don't. I just think new O rings for the injectors would do the trick then save up for eveything else.

That sounds a little more sensible I rekon.
What kind of a job am I looking at to change the O rings. Is it something I could get done in a day?
Thanks for the insight and advice.
