My truck isn't showing any oil pressure on the dash guage. Any Idea what could be causing this? I was thinking of changing the EOP Switch... I assume it is electrical since it flickered on/off a bit.
The first thing I would do is part a mechanical gauge on the engine and check oil pressure. Use a multimeter and test the sending unit (really a switch on this engine). It turns on and off, it doesn't vary current on pressure, it just switches on a minimum psi. If the sending unit it good, then your issue may be with the switch/panel. It could also be some chaffed wiring. There are a lot of items to troubleshoot on this one. You know you have some type of oil pressure, the engine won't run without it.
The oil pressure "gauge" only takes 7 1/2 psi to register normal. Give the plug-in a wiggle to see if it's a bad connection and then follow all of D's recommendations. I know of a few of these sending units that have failed, but take no chances. As he said, it won't run without oil pressure at the sending unit point---it's impossible.
Not sure of the difference - probably model year dependent.
IIRC you have the ford part# and ford service# switched on your chart.....any decent ford parts guy can figure it out though. Last 8 of your VIN is priceless.
