If anybody is interested I am removing my D50 TTB in a month or two and replacing it with a D60 solid axle. So I will have everything needed to convert a 2wd to a 4wd.
Just thought I would mention it in case somebody was planning this swap.
FYI.
I pulled my D50 with springs and everything the other day. It is ready to go into one of these swaps if you like.
I even have a spare truck with the correct frame pieces required. I have all you need to do this.
Just in case anyone is interested. Let me know.

I'm still waiting till the summer to start my 4x4 conversion and ZF5 swap. I would start buying parts now, but bought a new Glock, and now I have a fuel bowl leak.

I need to pull all the parts off my '88 for the swap still, but I want to find a Dana 60 front for the swap so it's done the first time.

Great thread! I was holding on to my old 95 for just such a possible project but have run out of time. Anyone near the WNY area who is going to do one of these conversions let me know asap. I have a 95 ExCab 4x4 diesel parts truck 3.55 gears . Front springs are beefed up. All in all probably all the parts someone needs for this conversion. area code (seven six five) 561-1585

It's a very worth while conversion I must say. And yes, an excellent thread with tremendous documentation. Did I use enough adjectives?

I am not a ford owner, but i am a 4wd fenatic, my boss/ girlfriends dad has a 1994 F-350 crew cab long box dually, i finally talked him into a 4wd swap and bought a 1990 F-350 7.3 non turbo 4x4, for what i understand the swap is fairly simple, but i am wondering if a front shackle reversal kit like this
92-97 F-250/F-350 front shackle reversal - Sky's Off-road Design
would be recommended? i believe it would help with the stance and if it is a good idea it would be smart in my oppinion to just do that right away, would this kit work with the 90s axle or am i missing something?

I am only 20 but this is not my first outing at this, i have been lifting trucks my whole life, but i need help.

Any and all help, advice, and oppinions are bery much welcome and appreciated!

Thanks, josh

Wait, is your boss your girlfriend, or your girlfriend's dad your boss? Careful there! LOL. Just messing with you. Welcome to the site. This lace is a true wealth of knowledge on these trucks.

I think most guys will tell that now is the time to do the RSK as well. It improves the ride slightly since it gets the shackle in the back where is should be and so long as you don't need more that 3 or 5 inches it is IMHO the easiest (and arguably the best) way to lift the front end. And most will agree that Sky manufacturing is the place to get these RSK kits. It sounds like you have a donor truck already lined up so the swap should be pretty straight forward. Just take your time and go through the D60 before you swap it into the truck. U joints and the like are a bit easier to replace while it is out of the truck.

If you are looking for a better ride, i would recommend doing a RSK and Superduty V code springs. Ad some correct valved Bilstine shocks from Home. Afteral he is the one who came up using a RSK and SD springs to get the best ride. That would net you the best ride out there short of putting in a 05 and newer coil spring axle

HOME - Precision Metal Fab is in the process of fine tuning a RSK that will bolt in using stock holes and let you use the SD springs(they are longer than OBS springs)

We have the 90 lined up and will be picking it up on monday or tuesday, the whole truck was purchased for a mere 500 dollars, it has a 60 that has replaced seals and u joints along with brand new brakes to my understanging, the truck runs and drives but the body is shot and we need the crew cab. I will try to do before and after pics for you guys.

And roughly how much higher would the truck be when i perform the swap if i didnt install the kit? (i really want to do it, but not sure if he is on deck fully!)

A ORU 2.5 RSK is 2.5"
A SKY 3 RSK is 3"
A SKY 5 RSK is 5"
PMF RSK can make it anywere from 2-8"
