i found some old threads were some guys had bought a kit off ebay for pitting integral power steering on their hi boy. does any one know were i can find one of these kits?
details of the parts are there, most could be found in a junk yard, except the mounting bracket
from the info the guy posted, they will sell the bracket and other parts seperately
and I agree, $1100 is high
$1100 is really high for that kit. However, a new steering gearbox will run anywhere from $300-450 and that doesn't include the core charge. So, you would need to find a used one for cheap to save some money.
I put a very similar system on my 1973 High boy. Their system (like mine) uses a 2wd steering box which is significantly longer than the 4wd steering boxes. In my experience it works "okay", which is not to say it works "great".
I've decided to remove that system and use a power steering box from a 1979 F-250 4x4. I bought that on ebay and IIRC it was about $100.00 or so, plus shipping.
