trying to get codes

Okay I know my truck ('96 F250 7.3) is OBD2 so I bought a code reader to get the codes and now I'm stuck. When I plug the reader into the port I get nothing. I tested the reader on another car and it works fine. As I was looking at my trucks' port the pins don't seem to line up. Have any of you come across this problem before? Ive taken some pics to compare the port with the plug, I also flipped the plug pic so the pins should line up with the port instead of being backwards.

Comparing the pics I'd say the ports missing four wires and/or one in the wrong spot like this:

What code reader did you get?
A lot of them won't work with our Diesel.
We only use a few of the pins so you might be OK there.
That port is powered by cigarette lighter fuse so make sure it is working.

Don't go moving any pins around unless you want to fry something. Call the maker of the scanner and ask them if it works on your truck. If not take it back. It they say it does, then take it back.
I've never heard of anyone swapping pins around so yours is probably fine. Check the fuse though.

I got the Autoxray Code Scout 700 from Napa. I'll check the fuse in the daylight.

You'd think so but I know there is problem and I was hoping it'd be as easy fix. I wanted to pull the codes to confirm.

The problem is this, I was coming home from work the other day and I stopped at a stop light when it turned green the truck acted like there was no gas pedal. I stomped on it a couple of time saying "wtf go!". I noticed that that tank was low so I switched to the other one. By the time I idled to the breakdown lane the truck realized it had a pedal and off we went (and the cel came on). I stopped at the gas station and topped off the truck, it was due but the tank I was on wasn't empty so it wasn't that . I started driving the rest of the way home stopped for another stop light and it happened again . Got it home and I haven't driven it since.

As stated above:
dont change pins, maybe you luckily just blown the fuse
and also you should check if that scanner you bougth is especifically for FORD DIESELS not just for Ford 96 an up, because you may have codes and the scanner cant read them
