I was contacted by an FTE friend to find out what's up with me. I know I was posting for a while and stopped kind of suddenly. A couple of things are joining forces to make it hard to keep active on the forum.
First, I am retired and my wife has decided to open a fabric shop in Wisconsin where we both grew up and have family. That means, since our kids are grown and have moved away, Barb and I will be moving back to Wisconsin in the next few months. We are 99% certain this is going to happen.
Second, I am having more medical problems and one is severe enough that I really can't work on Earl or do too much of anything physical.
When we move, we will not have room at our new home for Earl and all my tools. That means I'm going to have to find a good home for him. Some friends have already been in contact and we are working out just what we should do about Earl.
Moving on from Earl does not mean moving on from all the friends I have made through FTE and other places. I will do my best to get back on the forum but, as we all know, your health has to take priority.
In the mean time, thanks for everything! I really mean that. It's not just the conversations on the forum. It's staying connected with a bunch of first-class folks. And yes, I know that you all are first-class folks for a fact after moderating the forum for a while.
I'll be back (as Arnold said) but it will be a while.
shame ya can't take earl with ya ! but here's too better health , the move , and just in general have a wonderfully curly time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't think anyone here is gonna be straying away , so come back and see us !!!!!!!!!!!!
It's good just to see you post and to know you are out there. Your health and family is #1, just take take of yourself and them and once in a while say Hey!
Best wishes and thanks for all your posts and help in the past. Your previous postings and website is what made me go out and get my truck and got me going in the right direction.
You don't know how much and how many you've helped.
Sorry to hear about the medical issues. Who knows, maybe when you are searching for locations for the fabric shop you will find a building that has a work bay in the back and Earl will be able to join you after all (Barb is understanding isn't she?)
Please take care of yourself. You are one of the main reasons I joined this site. Your knowledge, humor, and willingness to help everyone kept me coming back.
My first question, why back to WI? I suppose the weather isn't much different than OH. I'm a life long resident of the state with the motto of "You earn it we'll tax it". Hopefully that will start to change in six months.
Second question, what part of the state are you moving to? I'm just north of Milwaukee.
Great to hear from you George, I`m sorry to hear about your further health issues.
Hopefully that improves....you`ll get better.....be able to keep Earl.
I`m glad you`re staying in touch with us, you`ve been missed!
And just when I was going to find that "This is a test, don't reply thread" you come an spring this on me.
Take care of yourself and the missus.
I'll keep my ears out for anymore of your words of wisdom.
This is what you should do load Earl full of stuff for the move, then load Earl on the back of a flatbed or in the back of the moving van heading to Wisconsin. When it get there paint the logo of your wife shop on it. If anything Earl could be parked outside the shop as advertisement.
Good luck on what ever you decide. Prayer an wishes to you.
I'll add my best wishes, George. Sometimes life has a way of changing our direction. I can see the day too when the wife and I may move west to be near the son and his family. I hate the thought of what it'll take to clean out all the "treasures"/trash I've stashed over the years, but I know I'll have to. Best of luck with everything. I, too, appreciate all you've done for the group. Stu
