First Year with an Ex

I bought my ’01 7.3L Ex last year with 178K miles. It came with 4” exhaust as it’s only mod.Since then, done a little work to it.I added a ford Severe Duty Air induction kit.I have done the v-code/modded b-code with bilisteins in all four corners.Added a Hellwig rear anti-swaybar.And, I added a DP-Tuner infinity with EGT sensors. Most recently, I put in a Pioneer AVH-4000NEX headunit with rear license plate back up camera.Soon I will be fixing a turbo pedestal leak and doing an EBPV Delete at the same time.

I bought the Ex as the family "do everything vehicle."We have taken it up to the snow.We pulled a loaded toy-hauler out to the desert. And pulled a travel trailer up to the lake with friends. It has done everything that we have asked of it without complaint. One of our best purchases yet.

I wanted to thank everyone at FTE for all the knowledge that I have been able to gain over the last year.I read through the forum religiously, and look forward to continued ideas for “what to do next.”

The amount of knowledge on here is beyond anything you could get from anywhere else. These guys and gals helped me fix my EX after only having it for one month, saved me lots of money in the process. I'm trying to decide what direction to go next with all the awesome ideas. Sounds like we got our EX's for the same reason, good luck with yours and welcome to the site.

Welcome to a very X-clusive club, LOL! With the low production numbers, we are very, very, lucky indeed to be X owners.

4x4?

Here is a poor cell phone shot of the Ex. Yes, it is 4x4, although the trip to the desert proved that the ESOF system did not lock the hubs. Fortunately, I manually turn the hubs every month and as able to lock the hubs that way. Pulling the loaded toy hauler to our campsite in the sand would have otherwise been challenging.

Good looking EX, I wish you many more happy years with it!
Nice rims too, I'm a huge fan of those '04 Lariat 18"s.

Thanks everyone. I am still looking for a good name for her.
On the agenda this year is contending with a small amount of rust on the roof. Not really sure what those molding looking things are for on the roof, but there is a small rim of rust around them. I am going to use some POR15 to stabilize it for now, but a body shop is likely in its future. Also would like to Hutch and Harpoon if I can find someone close for assistance. I have never worked on fuel systems.
