Can anyone say for sure if this indeed was a factory option? This is the first i have seen. Would this be a dealer option? See the following link: 1960 Ford F-250
Yep, cable driven tach was a factory option, but only in the bigger (F700 and up) trucks from what I know. I have never seen one in a truck with a 292, either 292MD or 292HD.
But there are some out there that can be had for a decent price. Also factory vacuum gauges or factory air pressure gauges that go on the other side of the cluster.
To install the cable driven tach on a 292 you could use the tach distributor from a T-Bird (pricey items) or cobble something up using the body and tach drive gear form teh distributor out of a 302 or 332 HD truck engine.
