Could this be a factory option in 1977?
Hi!
I am working on my project truck and would like to know if this air spring could be a factory option in 1977. I suppose not but maybe a dealer option or an aftermarket accessory? What do you Think? Thanks! /Mats

There's no compressor. There are pipes from air springs to an air valve in a small hole in the rear bumper. I have not tried to regulate the air pressure yet. I was just curious how they work when used together with leaf springs. I think the truck feels quite soft and comfortable for an unloaded truck. Thanks!

Air suspension was not included in standard production American-built cars between 1960 and 1983. In 1984, Ford Motor Company incorporated a new design as a feature on the Lincoln Continental Mark VII . So no its a aftermarket add on judging from its looks its a newer set up "air leaf support" . hope it helps . Joe

1957 Cadillac El Dorado Brougham came standard equipment with air suspension, it was also standard equipment on 1958/60 Cadillac El Dorado, Biarritz & Seville.
A neighbor had a 1960 Cadillac Brougham and a steep driveway. She was forced to park it on the street because overnight the air bags would bleed down, leaving the rocker panels inches from the ground.
When she fired it up in the morning, it would take 10 minutes or so for the air bags to inflate.
1958 Chevrolet Impala's with optional air suspension have a name plate on the rear body panel that said Level Air.
