i have a freind who has a 1964 f100 r Ranger with a 360 v8. His mecahinc says the number 7 valve needs adjusted, how is this done. I am not sure if it is an intake or exhaust, how is this done?
The 360 is a replacement engine (not stock in 64 Rangers) only in 68 to 76 ford trucks and typically has hydraulic lifters requiring no lash adjustment. Clearance is obtained by using differing length push rods. High performance FEs use mechanical cams and adjustable rockers and need to be manually adjusted with a feeler gauge. a cold 390 PI is .028 along with the 406 and hot is .025.
JIC you have 292 the rockers are manual adjustment as they use mushroom flat tappets
Intake and exhaust lash is with the engine hot .018 clearance between the valve head and the rocker face.
