I am wanting a monitoring system for my totally stock (and planning to stay that way) '06 6.0 F-250. I have heard some contradicting info. & I was hoping ya'll could help me clear it up.I would like to monitor ECT,EOT,EGT,fuel pressure & trans. temp. Trans. temp. is least imp. to me because I don't tow alot, but I would like to monitor it if possible. I have heard the insight doesn't show EOT & ECT on '05 & up 6.0. I also heard that the DashDaq will show fuel pressure, but the insight won't.Can anyone help me with the facts? All help is greatly appreciated.I am also looking at mounting options that will let me keep my grab handle.
Also use the search and type in dashdaq. Bismic and a few others have had discussions on what can be done and how to do it.
Good luck. Just remember the pictures.
Thanks 03-6l-x I would be OK with the DashDaq suction cup mount as long as it stays put & the cable is long enough to reach up by the sun visor (it's more out of sight up there). I wouldn't want my windows knocked out by crooks! Thanks for the help!

But you can still remove it with the other mounting option and do not have to worry about the suction cup coming loose. JMO
I would like to monitor ECT,EOT,EGT,fuel pressure & trans. temp.
DashDAQ will be able to do all that, however, with regard to EGT and/or Fuel PSI, you'll need third party hardware known as widgets in order to get those readings as well. As there is only one analog input on the back of the DashDAQ, you'll also need a piece of hardware along the lines of a "usb hub" to route those two probes in then from there you have one output to plut into the one analog input on the back of the DashDAQ.

Rather you tow or not, having a tranny temp gauge can be beneficial. If your tranny is starting to go south on you, but isn't slipping or anything obvious, you can tell by how quickly it warms up versus how it normal warms up with the same driving conditions. When mine starting to go south, it would hit 160 in 5 minutes in 30* weather. Clear sign that something is going on.

That I can't comment on. I'm not that familiar with the Insight to say one way or the other.

To my knowledge the DashDAQ is the only device that can monitor Fuel PSI with regard to the 6.0 that is also an OBD II monitor/gauge as well.

While I also have analog gauges and thus no grab handle, how I mounted my DashDAQ/Phalanx would allow you to keep the grab handle as well. It is in my gallery in the "Beta Spartan Phalanx" folder.
I have an Edge Insight with the optional EGT probe. It monitors 16 parameters at once if set to 4 parameters per page. I have mine set up with EGT, ECT, Boost and Trans temp on page 1. Page 2 is a 2 line bar graph showing the comparison between EOT and ECT, very cool and easy to see. Pages 3 and 4 have Module voltage, Intake air temp, Map, Turbine speed, Torgue Converter slippage and Run Time. As you can see, it does a lot. No one makes a monitor that can directly read fuel pressure or oil pressure. Those readings are not available from the computers on any of the 6.0 trucks. Like Tex said, the DashDaq can display the readings with some additional hardware. I read my fuel pressure with an ISSPRO EV2 fuel pressure gauge mounted in a single pod steering column mount. Easy to install and after getting some custom paint canned up, matches my interior perfectly. The Edge Insight resides in the Edge Products Dash Pod that is designed for the 2004 trucks. It fits perfectly and looks factory installed. I know they have a pod for your truck because they sent me the pod for your 06 the first time. he install is quite simple, the EGT probe is the most difficult. I have never heard that the Insight does not work on 05 and up. In fact, many here have them. You do not mention a coolant filter. You need one now if you do not have one. A short search here will provide hours of reading about why.
Thanks for all the great info! I should have been more clear with my orig. post. When I said I was stock I meant I didn't have any performance mods.I have been reading here for a while & I installed a coolant filter at approx. 4,500 mi.,so I hope I never have any cooler troubles, but who knows? I also did the high idle mod to try to limit coking issues, however I still try to limit my idling even with the mod.I was looking into the Insight until I heard the rumor about the '05 & up trucks not showing ECT & EOT.I don't have a problem with a seperate fuel psi. gauge as long as I can keep my handle to help get my fat a$$ in the truck!LOL. And also to "tex" thanks for the input,I will monitor the trans temp. for sure if the chosen unit offers this parameter,I was just not sure if I could do this without a seperate trans. temp. sender. I do tow a 9'000 lb. tractor occasionally but only about 4 times a year & only about 40 mi. round trip usually. Other than that it's just a small boat. Thanks again for the help,ya'll are great!
I wonder if the confusion that is out there regarding the eot/ect temps is in regards to the latest PCM flash. The new flash is supposed to turn on a CEL if the difference exceeds 15 degrees. This is for 2005 model years and newer. Rumors have surfaced that claim the feature is not reliable and does not turn on the CEL. The Insight monitors ECT/EOT
Sorry I've been so long gettin' back to ya'll,bust at work. Thanks again for the replies.I think it may be most cost effective from what ya'll are saying to go with the insight & a seperate fuel psi. gauge.I think I can go with the sun visor mount for the insight & a single fuel psi. under the grab handle. Thanks again guys! That rumor about the '05 & up trucks not working with the insight is something I read on here but I can't remember where I read it.

I'm about ready to do the same thing and order a insight for my 06 F350. If the insight can't monitor ECT and EOT on a 06 then I'll go with gauges. Hoping someone with a 06 can confirm yes or no.

I don't see how it couldn't monitor those things, that wouldn't be good for them in the long run. Fuel PSI they could get away with because it isn't supported by the computer, but not ECT/EOT. I would imagine that it would have coverage for those PIDs.
Until this thread mentioned this rumor, I have never seen a post that claimed the Edge Insight would not monitor eot/ect temps on any year 6.0. In fact, us motor swappers have discovered you can put an 06 6.0 engine in an older truck, even an 03, and it all plugs and plays. f you still are doubtful, call Edge Products.
The Insight monitors EOT and ECT just fine on my 06.
Also, I have the latest strategy that is supposed to trigger the SES light if EOT > ECT + 15. I've briefly exceeded this 15 degree range several times with the new strategy and have yet to see the SES light.
I wish I could remember which thread I read that rumor in but I can't. Anyway,it's apparently just BS or maybe I read the reply wrong that day because we've already had a verification that the insight works fine in an '06. Thanks again for all the help!
