6.4 Underrated?

I just returned from a 3500kmm trip hauling a car for half and an enclosed trailer the other half (according to truck 11.9mpg and 13.3mpg respectively)
I had my dashdaq hooked up and was monitoring temps and a bunch of other stuff I dont even know what is....anyways, my torque was in the 600's and 700's all day long, i saw 730-760 numerous times, is this gauge fairly accurate??

Does anyone have a list off what all the acronyms mean?
EOT= Engine oil temp
ECT= Engine coolant temp
FRP= Fuel rail pressure
MGP= Not sure but its turbo boost
TFT= not sure but I gthink is trans temp
Theres a bunch of others I cant think of right now, and the 3 egts, which one is which in the exhaust stream? I say the high temp one is pre turbo?

Thanks in advance!

Remember that those numbers are a computer calculation based on fuel usage and nothing more. I noticed the same thing with my ScanGauge on my 6.4L when towing, the HP numbers I was seeing weren't possible.

Remember that there are a LOT of things that affect engine output other than fuel usage. That fuel not only has to power the truck but overcome internal resistance, power accessories, and pump air. There is a LOT of parasitic loss here!

Also, if you could post the acronyms you are trying to figure out we would have an easier time deciphering them!

Thanks Crazy,
Its been a hellish 5 days on this trip, the only thing that went right was the truck itself, a few tire blowouts on trailers, highway closures, accidents on highways yadda yadda. Now I have to go to work first thing.

I will write them down hopefully tomorrow and post em up for some deciphering.

glad you are back ok!

I have the Banks IQ so it is much more defined. Trans temps should run somewhere around 180-200 so if you had one of those.

My eng temps usually stayed around 194-200 at 220F then the clutch fan comes on.

Thanks Senix!
My 'TFT' was always around the 172f mark pretty consistantly, my coolant temp was around low 190s and oil temp was higher 190s.

Oh, what are the critical differences that we are advised to keep our eye on, something with a very small difference?? I can't remember what it is..

difference between oil temp and engine temp. But those numbers don't count towing.

It is for driving at a steady speed unloaded, normal operating temps before the start of the run. I think the point spread is around 8-10 degree difference. Anymore than that you may have an issue.

Wow, that thing is cool! I may have to get one someday...

I'll take a stab at some of these...

FRP = Fuel Rail Pressure
INJ_TIM = Injection Timing: think of as spark advance on a gasser
EGRTA = EGR temperature at A. Not sure which sensor in the EGR system though
TCSLIP = Torque Converter Slip. This is the difference between input and ouput RPMs on the torque converter.
IAT = Intake Air Temperature
EOT = Engine Oil Temperature
FUELPW = Injector pulse width?

That's all I can figure out at the moment...and those are just guesses!

EGRTA should be the pre turbo EGTs.
