After driving my truck (97 Expedition, 5.4) for 5 minutes - 1 hour my ABS light comes on.
The brake pedal pulses intermittently (ABS kicking in) until the light comes on. The truck brakes fine when the light is on (ABS is off)
I replaced the rear differential ABS speed sensor. Made no difference.
I changed my rear brake pads and bled all four corners with fresh fluid. (the maintenance was due anyway) This seemed to help the ABS light situation a lot but not completely. Basically it just makes it so the light takes forever to come on but eventually it still comes on.
I cleaned the front brakes thoroughly, no difference.
Is there a way to read the codes without a scanner? My scanner doesn't do ABS codes. I read online about shorting a circuit and counting blinks. Couldn't find any more info on that online. Anyone know how?

You have to have a scanner to get the ABS codes. Earlier Fords of other models, like the mustang, had the ability to short out a jumper under the dash on the passenger side and get the ABS light to blink out codes. But that's never been the case for any year Expedition.
I had a problem with my ABS but without the ABS light coming on. I found one of the front sensors broken inside the hub. Fixed it and it ran fine after that.
