Thanks for any info.

Seems like everybody has an opinion on this and it'll be cool to hear 'em.

My way of thinking is to let gravity help you out instead of fighting it.
So, I start just above a bottom corner and go down and across the bottom.
I was told to start with a new gasket since they are easier to work with, they
are relatively cheap. You don't know how long the old one is going to last see?
I know you are doing that one already, just wanted to mention it.

Soapy water, thick and slick like used for <NOBR style="FONT-FAMILY: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; COLOR: darkgreen; FONT-SIZE: 100%; FONT-WEIGHT: normal" id=itxt_nobr_8_0>tire
</NOBR> patching/replacing. I've used WD-40 before too, but it's hard on the rubber and will make it crack sooner
than it would have otherwise.
As far as string goes, just about anything will do if it isn't too weak and thin.
Too thin makes it want to cut the rubber. BTDT :/
Most of the "pros" I've watched used 3/16" "braided" nylon rope, not the
"3 strand".

If this is your first... you picked the right one to learn on, IMO!

It's the easiest I can ever remember doing... the rear glass on my '75.

I copied this from the thread I hope the original poster don't mind.
