I have a 06 F150 with the 5.4 engine.I am curious as Ford won't honor their defective design in spark plugs. Is there an aftermarket company making and selling "HEADS" for this engine? If so -are they okay to use on stock
engines--( cams, valves, etc). And do they solve the spark plug problem?
if you want to swap to the new "non-sticking" design, you will need the heads, all new cams and associated hardware. might even need new front covers and timing chains.
you are looking at an easy $3-4,000 for this sort of swap. I suggest you look at a junkyard for a low mileage 2008 motor. You are looking for one that has a build date of Nov 2007 or later. On the drivers head there is a white sticker that will have the build date.
