4.0 Engine Spark Plugs?
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger with the 4.0 V6. What is the recomended spark plug?

Motorcraft or Autolite...the Ranger engines can get a bit picky when running other spark plugs.

AGSF34PP which crosses to APP5144. Make sure you don't get the ones for the ohv, as the reach is 1/4" shorter and the result will be detonation. Some stores list the same plug for both engines, this is not correct.

Buy Motorcraft not Autolite they are close but not the same. And the Motorcrafts from Autozone are china made not Motorcraft.

NGK works well too. They've never failed me in my 4.0 OHC. The stock platinum MCs had WAY too much gap erosion for me to use them again.

My thoughts also - I had gaps of .062 to .077 after only 72k miles with the factory plugs. The good news was that I had it on the dyno and it put out rated power, but the bad news was the gaps were huge. I put in autolites.

The -FM suffix means 'fine metal' tips (usually iridium) which are more expensive and supposedly better than the -PP suffix, which is double platinum.

k so i guess im ok, the parts guy where i got them said these superceeded the old ones. guess well see after i put them in!!!
