I just read a thread on another web site that talked about Ford Modular engines blowing spark plugs out of the engine while the engine is running; and breaking the plugs while trying to replace them causing spark plug parts to fall down into the engine which requires head removal to get the broken pieces out.
Both of these issues sound serious to me. I have a 2004 F350 V10 4X4 with only about 35,000 miles. I haven't even thought about changing the spark plugs yet, but will I be able to change them when the time comes? Is there some type of preventative maintenance I couild do now. Or, what gives with this?

Paranoia to sell parts or "services"-That's what you found.
Improper maintenance and "mechanics" with gorilla mentality are the #1 reason for the spark plug "blowout problem".
Leaving spark plugs in ANY internal combustion engine for more than 50K miles is asking for trouble. They're cheap, and not a real big job to change.
JL
Sparkplug blowout was only the first couple years or production. Not enough threads. My 03 has more threads than the 99 I had previously. Don't remember what year the change was. I have changed plugs twice in 78000 miles. No problem except reaching them!
I hate saying this over and over as it tempts fate. My '99 has never spit a plug and it will turn 100K tomorrow. I did replace the plugs at 75,000 using the correct procedure. The blown plug issue is overblown IMHO.
