If you don't like the noise, put the AIS back. If you don't mind it leave the 6637 in. It does flow a bit more than the AIS, and it's noisier. Plus, 6637s are less than half the price of the AIS filters. It's up to you. I'd sell it. LOL
I thought it looked pretty good for a stock air box set up, I know not stock but ford offered, but couldn't find a filter. I didn't take the filter element directly to the dealer because wify drives it every day. I guess I will put it back now that you guys have supplied me with the correct filter element part number, thanks guys. I wonder if K&N or similar make filters for this?
DO NOT put a K&N in there unless you want to be rebuilding an engine soon. It passes way too much dirt. And the 6637 filters perfectly well -- I have extremely low silicate numbers in my OA. Like I said, if you don't mind the noise, keep the 6637. Cheaper in the long run...
If you keep the AIS, just get the Powercore OEM filter from the dealer or maybe Ed can get you one cheaper. After 3 years and 20,000 miles my filter looks brand new (see pic) on the clean side, I have dumped some fine dirt out of the snorkel side but no restrictions whatsoever. And I do drive some dirt roads a lot in the summer going to my property in the mountains.
I just called my local dealer and ordered the filter, going through my dad's account still $75.42. Out of curiosity I asked the price on the kit fa-1759 and that was 231.98 through my dad's account. My wife doesn't like the chhhhh sound after letting off so back in it goes. Thats ok because I can change the 6637 on mine with the newer I take off.
