Excursion Conversion

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen an Excursion converted to an RV, or Camper style rig? I've checked the web,and didn't find anything. I kinda got the bug to maybe do this. It seems to me the EX would be a fairly good platform for this. It is a little smaller inside than a Econoline ,but I think it has potential.

I know this is not much help to you, but I had a 70's suburban that was converted. The previous owner cut the rear portion of the roof off, sort of like what would come off of an early blazer with a removable top. They then installed a popup camper intended for a blazer, expanding some of the living area into the back seat. The back seat was still usable, you had to fold things around to go between camping and seating mode. It was a pretty cool vehicle, we enjoyed it for quite a few years. Wish I had some pics of it.

Having just come from a E150 conversion van to the Ex for my family of 7 and soon to be 8, I think you would be better served to get a Econoline either already converted or convert it yourself if you wish. The space difference is significant in all directions. I just don't see how the Ex would be very comfortable.

Something like the Roadtrek will give you considerably more room than the Excursion. If you need the 4x4 capability that is another thing to consider - but you can always get a Quigley conversion done. The Pleasureway looks nice - the Traverse model is similar to what you want to do but I think it would be difficult to fit all of that into the Excursion. Anyone know what the interior size on an Ex is compared to an Econoline? With the doors on both sides of the Ex it would really prevent you from doing a lot.

Traverse floorplan:

It is about double the height I would say.

A few feet longer of usable space.

About 10" wider in the back.

We came from a E150 Conversion van and went to the Excursion just about 4 weeks ago. It is a adjustment getting used to the much less space in the back and no "walking room"

I've been bench racing a conversion like this for a couple of months now. I sold my old Class C and need a tow rig for my Jeep and trailer that me and the wife can sleep in.
Pretty well have storage, bed, fridge, microwave, and even toilet sorted out. I have been keeping my eye out for an 05 V10 4x4 Ex to do the work to.

Sure it's smaller then a van, but it'll work out perfectly for just the 2 of us now that our son is off to college.
