Well ya undid the throttle linkage, kickdown linkage, springs, fuel line, egr line, vacuum lines, unscrewed the heat riser tube fitting for the thermo choke, the 4 base nuts for the carb, pulled the carb, flipped it over, spun out the 4 power valve cap screws (was there gas in there?) unscrewed the old P-valve, spun the new one in, re atached the P-valve cover & screws, bolted the carb back on the truck, hooked all the stuff back up... cranked & cranked & cranked on the starter to refill the float bowl, and then it fired & did the same thing?
I maybe coulda done that back in the day when I could crawl around under the hood of a truck with my knees on the radiator & one hand resting on a valve cover holding myself up. But in the 37 minutes between your posts... Well...
Maybe if I had all the tools right there ready to go.... naw, I just aint that fast anymore.
Oh and for your info it was over an hour hour..I called my bud and told him to drop it off ..he did 10 mins later while i was unhooking the carb .. 4 bolts took abour 1 min each to take off for a total of 4 mins
throttle linkage took about 1 min to take off the clip and unhook the spring
pull carb and flip over and take 4 small bolts out maybe took 10 mins at most
so YES i had time
Today, 08:08 PM ...your first post saying it may be the p valve

Today, 09:24 PM ...my post saying i replaced it
so did any gas spill out when you took the p-valve cover off?
Like I said the only vacuum lines are the big one below the carb u can see it in the pic...it runs to the PVC in the oil cap
to answer your ?
and the smaller hose in that pic..runs to the distributor from the tree in back of the intake
it runs and idles good in D when i unhook that line...also when its hooked up it makes a loud clicking clacking sound at the distributor and does not when unhooked
