Trip to SCT was great. Truck pulled great!!! The truck is extremely comfortable after 400 miles i felt like i could do another 400.
Pulled at 70 mph with no issue truck did everything i asked of it..
Great Job Ford.... what a well designed machine... As for mpg i avg right at 11 for trip down. Was hoping to see a little better but truck only has 800 miles.
This was the first 2011 truck at SCT.. Their 2011 diesel is about a month out...
I will have some more info in the weeks to come as we and SCT reverse engineer a few things .
ps Good article on the 6.2L First Drive Review: 2010 6.2-liter V-8 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor - PickupTrucks.com News
Check out the dyno graphs of the raptor they are just about identical curve wise to what we posted except lower numbers. Pretty cool...there.... Also sounds like we might have an off road mode for the superduty's LOL

Sure
cons-
throttle response needs work down low,
not the same torque down low as v10.
2v or 3v V10 would get almost same mileage towing that trailer and car.
pros-
more comfortable than past trucks
Transmission controls are 100% improved for driver,
makes more power than 3v v10 in upper rpms ranges.
steering is much improved,
mileage will be better than V10 on hwy.
truck is much more quiet on the inside to me as well.. maybe i am getting old and cant hear as well..

I guess you could consider it a loaded question. I had a pretty good idea what your answer was going to be.
Just thinking back to the group of naysayers who were insisting that the 6.2L engine was "underpowered" for towing. The same group that holds horsepower as a meaningless number used to sell cars and trucks and torque as the almighty God of truck-dom.
I hold your opinion in high regard because of both your history of V10 ownership as well as your business. Thanks!

Any idea how the new 6.2 compares power wise to a 460 with an free flow intake and a short dual exhaust with no cats?
I have a 94 F350 dually, weighs about 8000 pounds and the 460 will really make it move around town, plus I do lots of towing - 6000 pound trailer - around a town with lots of hills.

It will interesting to see how it handles a load with some frontal area like your 5ver. By looking at your curves for the 2 valve V10 with PI heads and the 6.2 it looks like they are close so maybe it would be a replacement my 2V V10 in a few years, maybe by then they will jack it up a little or maybe you will be able to jack it up some on the low end.

Hi Denny
Your right I will have to get a better feel for this truck with the 5ver. In your case as much weight has you tow it would be a hard choice even for me to stay gas or go diesel unless Ford has some thing up their sleeve in future. Right now it look as if this 6.2L has similar torque as 2v pi v10 motors and more hp than 3v v10 motors. Great middle ground that should fit most gas superduty owners very well.
