Ordered energy suspensions front sway bar bushing set Part# 4.5186G for my 2001 F250. After pressing out the old bushing for the top of the sway bar link that attaches to the frame, I found out that it is a tapered eye. The bushings that came with the set are not tapered and sit in the eye loose. Placed a call to energy suspension and they were no help. They told me that between 99 - 01 there were so many different parts on the trucks that they must not have covered them all. Have any of you experienced this? Is there any solution other than going OEM?
The part # you want is 4.5187. When i installed mine i did not like the stock bolts with the shoulder near the head of the bolt because i still had the odd clunk come from them, although i might not have had them tight enough. Hard to get a TQ wrench in there. So i drilled out the sleeves that come with the bushings to 1/2" and got new 1/2" bolts to fit. tightened them up good on the links 80ftlbs and 40ftlbs on the axle ones. No clunk everything has been good for last few hundred miles.Roy
The set you bought should work, that's what's on my '02. Did you install the correct bushing to the correct end? There are numbers stamped on the bushings to guide you but I didn't have directions so I referred to this link posted below.
Scroll down some and the writer points out which bushing goes on which end.
It ended up that only the passenger side top link had the tapered eye. When I pressed the sleeve in, it ended up being a pretty nice and tight fit. Thought it odd that the passenger side was the only one like this. Definitely a big difference, have not driven it enough to know if the "clunk" is gone. Still have the track bar and both front and rear springs to do with energy suspension bushings. thanks for the replies
The reason I asked is I have this link saved to my favorites, its where I bought mine with no issues but your the second fella saying their customer service is non-existant and don't give a doodle when theres a problem. I might just stop telling people about them if their customer service attitude doesn't change.
