Push rod copper end

Hello, does the copper end go down or up? Both of my '03 motors that I've taken apart have had the copper ends up, but my shop manual says they're supposed to go down ( into the roller follower socket ). The first motor is the original that had the bed plate done under warranty, and the other is a new factory remanned. Is my manual right or are the mechanics that put these motors together? Thank you for any responses. Bill

Thanks for your replies. I was hoping you would have said down though because I flipped them all over yesterday after reading in my manual that the copper goes down, it is a Ford Motor Co. 2003 work shop manual vol.2 that I've been using, I bought the set from Helm when I bought the truck in '04. I'm starting to wonder how accurate it is.
