hello,
I recently installed the afe big boost filter and now get this extremely high pitched noise it sounds just like radio squeal we used to get on the older vehicles. Is this still turbo and I can hear more now? I used to have the k&n cone shape filter so I'm used to the normal turbo whistle I hear on most other trucks. Is this just kind of annoying or something worse? Thank ya'll
When are you getting this sound? If it sounds like a hiss during shifting, then its normal. If it is happening all the time then it might be something else going on.
Might want to try swapping back the old filter and see if it goes away. I can't think that a filter would allow for a high pitch squeal. I have a 6637 with the cut up air box and I don't have any kind of squeal. The squealing might be something else on its way out which coincidentally started when you installed the filter.
ohh nooo don't say that, what's goin out the turbo? i'll put the other one back on tomarrow. If it goes away then maybe its just a normal noise w/ the afe?

I don't mean to say that anything is going wrong with the turbo. Rather that maybe the new filter allows you to hear something you wouldn't normally hear, or that you possibly have a pulley squealing or something else that starting making noise right when you installed the filter. Weird things happen is all I am saying.
Start by putting the old filter on and seeing what happens. If the sound goes away, you know its nothing to worry about. If it still around then you have a new sound to find.
No worries John, but please do come back online and let me know how it goes!

when i did my stereo install my friend swore up and down it needed to be grounded better until i turned the radio off and you could still hear the turbo whistling.
