I believe the stock charger will start boosting around 2250 rpms depending on the gear or load. In any case, it should be fairly responsive around the 2k mark.
ok then, thats pretty much where my truck starts to boost. i will hit about 15-17 psi max. i got 3.55 gears will this help with the boost or decrease it? what can i do to boost it up a little more? thanks for the info so far.
I believe you're going to need bigger injectors to get much more boost. With my stage ones I hit 33 lbs. Although now I am putting a 17* hpop in cause I set a cel, not enough oil to injectors.
Do you have any exhaust upgrade? I see you have the 6637, a downpipe and straightpipe exhaust may raise the number 1 or 2 psi if you don't have it.
I've got 3.55's also, shouldn't matter what gears, just rpm so with 4.10 you will of course boost at lower speeds but same rpm.
Is that all you max at in any chip setting? What chip is it? I would almost think in a higher chip setting you would see more than 17 psi, but I could be wrong.
Boost comes from the exhaust pressure and heat. If you raise either somehow then it will make more boost. The turbo is just a simple turbine like a jet engine or a steam turbine.
Bigger injectors work but you need the tuning to drive them, bigger exhaust helps some. More than anything bigger exhaust brings exhaust temps down, decreasing boost. Unless you do something to boost it back up again.
Get the 4 inch exhaust and intercooler before you go too crazy with it so you keep EGTs within safe limits.
It's kinda a catch 22. More heat will spin the turbine faster but it will also melt pistons if you go too high so be careful.
