So I got Solenoid 2-3 failure for the code. The Ford computer said possible cause is Solenoid B failure or Solenoid C failure or mechanical failure. Getting a solenoid pack today and got my fingers crossed it is just solenoid failure and not mechanical failure.
If there is a lot of garbage in the trans pan when you open it up be wary. Could be you gernaded something and a bit of junk got into the solenoid pack. Had that happen to me. I rebuilt the trans before I replaced the solenoid pack, but it caused me a lot of grief after the rebuild>>until I replaced the solenoid pack.
Alright well... replaced the shift solenoid and still no second gear. Is there anything above the solenoid pack the could my problem or am I looking at getting a rebuild? Thanks for any help, I'm tired of doing this
You can check the harness by unplugging it at both ends and checking it with a meter and that would rule out the harness. Other than that you maybe need a little help from our tranny expert, it's kind of sounding like a rebuild though.
I was starting to consider the doing that with the harness, does that harness end at another plug before it joins the engine harness (haven't looked yet).
I was hoping Mark might chime in... tried calling BTS but they're some tough cookies to get a hold of.
Since I could never find the solution to the problem posted I'll post what I found in case it helps someone in the future...
After rebuilding the transmission in my garage with the FactoryTech Monster Box kit as I was checking the valves in the main valve body before re-installing and I noticed the shift 2-3 valve not posistioned correctly. The spring was folded over at the slide and not returning the valve back into home posistion. After deburring the valve and bore it works like a champ. Trans works fine and was painfully and needlessly built to be bullet-proof for a stuck valve.
