The 6.0 is a sweet motor but 5100 buck buy a lot of gas! SO for it to pan out it would need to get 50 mpg or so vs the v10.
If I pulled in the mountains a lot I might think about the 6.0 but for everything else I'll stick to the V10
Considering it gets almost twice the mileage of the V10, it won't take too long to pay for itself. Most of the guys here are claiming mileage in the 12-14 range and the new 6.0 once broken in easily is above 20, and I've heard a few claiming 22-23. The mileage towing won't drop anywhere near as much as the V10 either. The $5100 also assumes that you are paying MSRP, and anyone who pays MSRP anymore is getting ripped off.
If the PSD is 5100 MSRP and the dealer takes of 10,000 bucks and he takes 10,000 bucks off the gas you are still 5100 higher. Where did you get your math?
Now around here the dealers are selling every PSD they get so they don't work to hard on the price but the V10's sell slower so you can buy them at dam near dead cost so the 5100 you started with is not 6 or 7 thousand.

You can buy almost any vehicle for invoice or even under invoice. There are several large dealers around the country that are glad to take your order, and even ship to your local dealer for a small fee. If your local dealer doesn't deal, you can always make this threat. If they still don't deal, you can order and have it delivered to their dealership. The $5085 becomes $4383 when you look at the invoice. You should be able to do the same thing with the V10 trucks. If you pay much more than invoice, you are getting ripped off.
I wasn't trying to say that you can get a new diesel for the price of a V10, I was just saying that if you pay invoice, you aren't paying $5100 for the diesel option.

I have a used car dealership so I don't buy new anymore, what you are talking about is a curtesy delivery and a dealer does not have to do it.
Right now around here you are not going to get as much off on a PSD as a V10, sure if you want to fight calling around the country you might save 500 or so but then to ship it will tag between 450 and 700 depending on where it is comming from so did you really save?
I bought my 2001 V10 crew cab eddie baure with 5000 miles on it and paid 21,000. I sold my PSD and was not really wanting another but figured I would look the best one I could find at the time had 15k miles and the I would have had to put 32 in it for the same basic truck. I figure 11 grand buys a bunch of gas!
IMO if you buy a new truck you are getting ripped off, what else can you buy and in 3 min. it is not worth what you paid? In fact it is a law in Louisiana now that you have to offer Gap insurance because the car are so over priced new that even the lenders were never getting their money out of them if they were wrecked.

No, the dealer does not have to do it, but there are several large dealers that do. If you are buying a brand new truck, the savings is far more that $500-700. My whole point in this whole discussion is that you never pay $5100 for a new 6.0 diesel because that is the MSRP. Anyone who pays MSRP or anything close is a sucker.
The thing is no matter how you look at it if a rebate is on the V10 and the PSD then the price difference is still the same. If the dealer sells you both at cost the price difference is still the same. What ever he takes off one he can take of the other so 5100 bucks difference does not change.
