I have a copy of the 02/03 Peterson's 4Wheel & Offroad magazine and the tested a 2003 F250 4x4 Supercab longbed with the new 6.0 PSD/Torqueshift and it got a 1/4 mile time of 17.52@82.53mph.
I'm not sure but my V10 F250 doesn't feel that fast. I may be wrong-I don't race and I've never timed it.
The 03 Ram 4x4 ext cab shortbed with 5.7L Hemi did it in 17.88s@77.73mph.
Anybody have any 1/4 mile times for a stock V10 F250 4x4??
Your V10 isn't that fast. The new turbo used in the Power Stroke virtually eliminates turbo lag so the engine benefits through the entire RPM range. 325HP on the new 6.0 @ 3300 RPM and 560 lb/ft of torque at 2000 RPM.
Does it say what the 0-60 time was? 17.52 is still mini-van slow! Yea I know its a 3 ton truck, but slow is slow. I think the 0-60 time comparison would be more intuitive.

No they didn't list any 0-60 times. I agree with you about "fast" pickups still being slow though. In stock form most bottom-end sports cars will still smoke just about any stock heavy-duty pickup for about 20 grand less dollars. It's kind of like drag racing excavation equipment in my opinion!
Shoot-the new 6.0L PSD should be fast-it only costs $5100 as an option on a new SD and that's not including the extra tax and finance expense if you make payments. That's too much money for me to have bragging rights-I know a few guys that have new pavement queen diesel pickups that don't even own a trailer. Guess that just buy it as a status symbol?

The 0-60 time I posted was from a different test. 0-60 in 9 seconds.
I guess if I spent $5100 on my 2001 V10 I could get a lot more hp and torque. Probably could even beat the new 6.0 Diesel. After all it doing its power thing with a turbocharger. What would it do without it? Beat the V10 I don't think so.
Just my opinion when we talk apples we all need to talk apples and not apples and organges.

It would still have more low end torque. Keep in mind that this new diesel is much smaller than the V10 to begin with, so that's pretty impressive. I agree though that a diesel without a turbo is severely lacking in performance.
If 17.52@82.53 is all the 6.0 can muster.
My 2000 F250 SC LB V10 5speed ran the 1/4 in 16.2@84 mph at Cecil Co MD.stock, before I put headers or muffler or filter changes on.
The Feb issue of Trailer Boats did a towing comparison with all three diesel pickups, and the 0-60 times they got were: Ford 9.9,Dodge:13.6, and Chevy 10.3. 0-60 times pulling a 10,400 boat were:21.5, 24.0, and 23.5 respectively.
The Ford 6.0 F-350 is their pick for tow vehicle of the year....
17's are not low end sports car. That is normal econobox slow. I would be surprised if some v-10 trucks (especially light 2wd models with steep gears and normal tires) cannot break that.
Man - how slow was the old PSD?? What do they claim the V-10 does?? I wonder how slow my 13,000 motor home is...might only be a few seconds worse, and it is carrying everything *including* the kitchen sink. Time to dig up the G-Tech!

Granted the new 6.0 is impressive, I have driven several customers units and have had the PLEASURE of wipping them in the 1/4 mile and the long run with my little ol V 10.
Mine will run that fast and then some. It loves to play with those marble motors.
I attended a Superduty dyno day last weekend here is Socal. My stock '02 V10 F-250 pulled 234HP at 41MPH on a Clayton interia dyno. A half dozen brand new stock 6.0's pulled between 270-285HP. Once they get the production bugs worked out, this will be one nice motor to have in a SD.
HiTech mount a calender so you can check you next pass down the 1320
The 6.0 is a sweet motor but 5100 buck buy a lot of gas! SO for it to pan out it would need to get 50 mpg or so vs the v10.
If I pulled in the mountains a lot I might think about the 6.0 but for everything else I'll stick to the V10
