I have a 94 F250 7.3L IDI, the question in short is does it matter wether or not the exhaust is for a IDI or a powerstroke?
The local shop is trying to sell me a AFE turbo back but when I check the site it does not show a product for a IDI only powerstroke. Please help.

 

Ford changed over to the 7.3 stroke in mid 94. If you want to get the right parts tell them you have a 93 7.3 IDI. Is your truck factory turbo? Most parts places includeing the dealerships don't know about the change over, go figure.

Lots of folks have installed the stroke system behind the down pipe, I'm not sure what exactly it takes, but I think it is pretty easy.

Yeah, the only different part is the down pipe, lots of IDI guys have used aftermarket PSD exhaust setups.

 

Can I buy an adaptable downpipe? I belive it has a 2.25 on it and the AFE has a 4.

 

Banks downpipe #52103 is for IDI. It is 2-3/4 inch, fits the factory v-band clamp. They still sell them. Ask for it by part number.
