Hey all! First post from a brand new user! Just a brief background: Bought my brand new truck one week ago for one hell of a deal. Got the exact truck I wanted with one small issue: it had a decal running down the panels on each side of the truck.
Didn't think anything of it because my salesman said he could remove it with no problems as part of my delivery. After delivery, I could tell exactly where the decal had been because it still showed the "lines" on the truck. I thought it would buff out, it did not. It is currently at the dealer getting "fixed". While the service tech said they'll get it out without damaging the truck and the paint, I am still worried as it's been one full week.
Anyone have any thoughts on decals and paint, experiences, problems, or advice? Much appreciation, guys, and I'm thrilled to be apart of the Ford family!
If the truck has sat on a lot for a while, the paint not underneath the decal fades. There is a chance in time the uncovered paint will fade a bit, but it will never be at the same point and probably always show. The base coat is faded, buffing the clear won't do much.
Thanks Berry! That's good info to know, didn't think of that. I'm actually getting it back today. What they did for me was repaint the whole thing then add a new clear coat. So, i guess the worst thing was just waiting for it to get done. Obviously didn't pay for it since it was part of the deal and it didn't do anything to hurt the warranty. In fact, they issued me a lifetime paint warranty on top of it all.
