I have a 2010 STX with 4.6L 2V engine. for the first 2000-3000 miles i was strugling to get better then 17 MPG and then after i got back from training and the GF put another 1000 miles on it it's now getting 19.2 MPG. Does that mean that everything is broken in and settled down? Just curious if anyone else has had this pleasant surprise.
You will definately see more gains. I had a 2010 XLT Screw with the 4.6 and it was also around 17-17.5 until about 10000 and it was like magic. I started getting round 20-21 highway, 19+ avg. Then I traded it on a 5.4 Lariat!
The little bit of city driving is killing mine, I get about 17 average. But if I reset the computer and do all high way I'll get close to 19.5 mpg with out using cruise and I have under 3000 miles. Cruise control seems to get worse mileage for me. Any one know a good highway cruising speed for the 4.6L 3V with 3.55 rear to maximize fuel economy?
beidle99,
i have the 4.6l 3v same rear end screw...i drive highway to/from work...if i go 60mph, its at around 1500rpm...the last tank i got 535 miles, with 12 left till empty, or at least that's what the computer told me...it is all bone stock-for now....it has been getting better mileage the older it gets...
