what is involved in getting the turbo cleaned. its a 05 6.0 with 109,000 and i bought it used so i dont know the last time it was cleaned. i just plugged in my SCT X3 for the first time and when i gas it im getting boost but it stops around 20#. it acts like the engine wants to make more power but something is holding it back. thanks

There's a great thread on cleaning the turbo in the 6.0 tech folder sticky at the top of the page.

Up date: Cleaned turbo and it helped some but didn't fix it completly so I did some calling around and found a private shop that is powerstoke freindly. Turns out my exhaust pressure senser? was bad. Got a new one put one and back to normal. Turns out I had 2 codes set for this but my sct didn't pick them up. Thought you guys might like to know what it took to fix it.

i read the tread in the tech folder about how to clear your turbo. how hard was it to do because i just called a dealership for a price ( just because i was curious). they wanted $600 to do it.

Cleaning the turbo was a PITA but not real hard just took more time than I thought it would. I printed everything off the sticky thread and had it in a folder to look at as I went. Wish I would have put new turbo boots on while I was at it but other than that just follow the instructions. Took me longer than it should have but I took my time and checked the folder often. I think I had about 12-13 hours in it total.

If you're truly getting zero boost for 2 or 3 miles then there's definitely an underboost code being thrown that your SCT isn't reading. Agree with the other posters that you've probably got a sticky turbo.

2005 f-350 6.0 diesel

I loose turbo psi once in a while and it threw a code. But they can't read the code because dianostic plug keeps blowing the 20 amp fuse. the fuse box shows it is tyed in with the ciggaret lighter. Any body have any ideas?
