Hello all, Im looking at buying a 1994 f350 with the 7.3 IDI motor. The transmission is an automatic. Would this be the E4OD trans? The end of the shifter has been swapped out for a nice shiny aftermarket piece (if your into that sort of thing) .And I forgot if the drive had a circle around it on the selector. I test drove in town and did not get on highway so could not tell . Thanks for any help.
Thanks for scaring me again kenpobuck, just as I had myself reassured I had the e4od. This is a very realistic possability. I can see a morning road trip to investigate may be in order.
The C6 was available right up to the end of the IDI production run although, as David85 says mainly in fleet trucks.
Look at the door sticker for a transmission code to see what trans came from the factory. Code G is the C6 and Code E is the E4OD. Then count the pan bolts to see what is actually there.
Sorry bout that lol. But even if the code says e4od some one might have swapped it out. If some one tried to figure mine out that way they would be in a world of hurt lol. This thing started out as having... 302 efi w/aod tranny, Pushbutton 4x4, and dana44 w/ ford 8.8 rear. The only thing that is still the same is the gear ratio lol.
