Might add the battery then try to use it. If not them program away. Mine is a lariat and has the same keypad. I was under the impression this was a 99-04 design and 05+ got wired units or the keypad was added as a dealer install after 05.
I'd add that you have a master code on the key pad. You can add a second code as a vallet or for other people to use. The second code can be erased or changed later if needed.
Update.....it wasnt the battery. It was due to me adding key fobes and not adding the keypad back. However, I did find out you can only have 4 controllers total for your truck. Meaning, the keypad is considered one controller or fobe. So I just did 3 remotes and the key pad. So I am all good and works like a champ.
I wanted to share my experience from yesterday in trying to replace the battery in the keyless entry. First the top didn't come off easily at all, I went to a body shop and the friend helped me remove it from the door completely then worked to open it and that was a chore in itself! We spent an hour at least removing the remote cleaning the residue from paint to find no battery locally so I had to order one. The battery was a CR2335 3v that's not a common nickel battery that is used. So to sum it up plan on removing the remote if it doesn't pop off easily and reattach when done with two sided tape that body shop uses and believe me that stuff is sticky! Good luck!!
