I think I have a blown speaker in my rear left. It's an '05 F150 FX4, with the audiophile system. I really like the sound, but like I said, one speaker rattles at certain ranges. I want to replace it, and I want the factory replacements because of the existing pigtail connections that are there. I don't want to have to cut any wires and solder anything. The problem is, I don't know where to look for speakers for my truck, and my dealer is certainly out of the question because of the markup. Anyone point me in the right direction?
Try your local stereo shops. When they replace speakers for other customers, they should have some stockers left over. Drop in, leave them an index card with your name, px and what your looking (5x7? audiophile speakers) and ask them to call you if they take any one good ones out. It never hurts to ask.

That's a great recommendation, you could also try the salvage yards as well but a stereo shop might even give it too you free.
I would vote for an upgrade. Move one of your fronts to the rear to replace the blown one, then upgrade the fronts. Go to crutchfield.com and see what fits, they will supply harness adapters so they are plug-and-play. I'd go with Infinity or JL.
Well, I pulled the back door panel to see what I was looking at and low and behold I find the rear speakers to be 5x7's, and cheapies at that. I was blown away. I guess audiophile edition means beefier front component speakers and regular cheap speakers in back, with a subwoofer under the seat. Anyway, once I discovered that, I immediately got on Crutchfield.com and started shopping for a better set.
