Good to go.. the darn truck doesn't even get hot enough to turn the fan ON in the first place.. I just have to install ANOTHER relay for switched power, or it will keep turning on and off (truck off) when the truck gets up to 210 during driving.
I chopped the mounting poits off the fan and was going to try and fab something different, but there would have been too big of a gap, so I just grabbed some sheet metal I had laying around and after numerous times of bolting and unbolting, I had the fit the way I liked it. I also bent up some 90*s and use the tabs for the bottom retention clips..
I fastened most of it together with self tapping screws.
The truck just feels lighter now.. The only way to describe it, I guess. Feels like you disconnected it from a small trailer. Gonna see how it helped my fuel mileage.
It's pretty straight forward. I think the relay I installed wasn't exactly needed. Although I WOULD need it to turn the fan on for the AC, but I think I'll need ANOTHER darn relay for switched power. The fan was kicking on and off occasionally when the truck was off, after I warmed it up real good to set the temp switch.
I have the schematics that came with the relay and fan switch, but I'd have to scan them. I'll see if I can MS Paint one for ya.
Here ya go do0d.. It's really simple.. If you want to add relays, you MAY need one for the AC and one to basically switch the fan system 'off' when you turn the truck off.
This is almost identical to the schematic that came with my temp switch. All of the leads are hot unless marked with the ground symbol.
I have that prob with my 88 stang, the fan comes on with it off, me and you have to wire a switched power source to the relay that tells it to come on. Then it will be fine. Stang sits in the garage so it doesnt matter for the 1 or 2 days a month I take it out.
^ Yeah, but just in case there may be a SLIGHT draw, enough to kill your battery, it will ruin an hour of your day waiting for the batt to charge.
I had the truck at my buddy's place after the install. Was workin on his moped and whhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrr *fan kicks on*.... the truck is off, but I'm not used to it, so I look at the truck and yell "WHAT!?!?!" Oh great.. That's all I need is another vehicle with a personality.
After the first race this year I think I am going to put fans on mine. I have two diffrent ones. The first fan I have is a dual speed unit, and the second one is a two fan unit. they are both about the right size. just gotta deside which one to use. the single fan unit is a little lighter, but i am not sure of its flow rating. IDK what to do aaaaahhhhhh
^ I remember the older Hondas doing that, but it just ran after shut down. Mine kicked on a couple times after shut down, I just don't want it running the battery dead.

keep us posted on the mpg savings... I have thought of doing the efan myself but thought it wouldn't be worth the money...
I want to run the taurus 2 speed fan and wire it with a 3 way toggle in the cab with ON/AUTO/OFF.
I like this idea too. But I would worry about someone else driving the truck and bumping the switch or something, then (well, you know what would happen)
I think that it would probably just be pest to install a relay from the ignition power. So it just powers off when the ignition is off.

It could be done like mine for $50. Not much of a loss, IMO.
Frickin thing hit 75 by the end of the HW on ramp today! Acts a lot better on the HW, but I also noticed that once it gets warm, the performance isn't that great, but it could have been that I'm tired and just wanted to get home.
I got 60 miles on a 1/4 tank. I'm thinking 14mpg, but I'll have to clock it more next week. Mostly city mileage. Gonna need to restart the mileage count, I reset the trip a little late on this fill up.
Looks good. Did your fan controller's instructions tell you to install your t'stat pushed through the radiator like that? Mine had a whole mounting setup
