Sigh, this is really hard to do on the internet.
Ok first you will need the outer bezel piece. It twists on to the front of the switch and holds it onto the dash.
Second, depending on which truck you are instaling it on, unit has a spacer that goes behind the dash to provide tension on the spring.
They don't make those spacers any more. So I made one. I believe it is a piece of 1" PVC pipe cut to 3/4 inch length exctly.
You insert the switch from behind the dash with spacer and spring very deliberately, insert the bezel from the front and twist.
Have fun!

OK here ya go:
You are right, it's a 53 (+/-) ignition switch. Here's a pic with part number of a new one:

They do make the spacer - here's a pic with part number:

And here is the bezel/retainer with part number:

These part numbers are from C&G Ford Parts and are probably common with Dennis Carpenter and MACs. Here's the link to C&G:
Ford Parts at C&G for 1932 thru 1979 Ford car and Ford truck.
The bezel actually is a bayonet type mount and push/twists into the switch. You need the spacer for spring tension. This is the set up I have on my 51, so, that should do it!

Note post #3: The switch and the cylinder w/keys are still available from Ford and can be bought at discount prices from FTE sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM which is Horizon Ford in Tukwila WA (formerly known as Y2KFORDPARTS.COM).
There is no such Ford part number as BAAA-10852-1G. The correct part number for the bezel is FAB11584A / Obsolete

I think those are reproed and aren't genuine Ford - not sure. No matter really, now he has both Ford and C&G/Carpenter part numbers and he can buy from either. I just know that that combination is what worked on mine except they hadn't started making the spacers yet and I ended up using teh 1" PVC pipe cut to 3/4 inch long - worked perfect. And of course I got my parts at C&G, first because I like them/very helpful; and, second they are two miles up the road from me - makes life easy, saves on shipping!
Probably very true. Those are the Part Numbers that C&G uses and lists the part under. The numbers are actually printed on their parts photo.

Carpenter is in-famous for inventing part numbers for reproduced parts.
Carpenter also lists the original part numbers in his catalogs as they appeared in specific Ford parts catalogs, even though Ford may have updated the part number once, twice, or lawd only knows how many times.
For example: B-1012 lug nut was updated to: B-1012-A, COAZ-1012-A, C9AZ-1012-A, E6DZ-1012-A and E8TZ-1012-B.
This means that the same lug nut that fits a little deuce coupe also fits your F1, F100, F150, Taurus and a gazillion other applications from 1932 thru 2002.
Since both the switch and the cylinder w/keys are still available from Ford, my guess is...that C&G is buying them from Homer Heller (or another dealer) at about the same discounted price that FTE sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM (Horizon Ford in WA) is selling them for.
Y'all may have noticed that when I usually list part numbers, I type them WITHOUT any spaces or hyphens. Like this for example: B5A11572A
The reason is: If you type the part numbers as they appear in parts catalogs (with spaces and/or hyphens) into online obsolete and Ford Dealer parts locator systems, you'll get messages like:
No Parts Found / Sorry, we do not carry the part at this time. / Or...nothing will show up.
btw: Muy importante! Numbers that appear on parts prior to 1957 are either the actual part number or an ID engineering number, or a casting number.
From 1957, only ID engineering numbers and/or csting numbers appear on parts, and usually are not even close to the actual part number.
ID engineering or casting numbers...will not work in any parts locator system.

Is that the correct bezel for a 1950 F-1? I did not see it on the C&G page. Thanks.

Post #1: The OP was installing a newer switch in his 1949, so none of the Ford part numbers listed in posts 1 thru 9 apply to 1948/52's, including FAB-11584-A!
Dennis Carpenter (DC) has the 1948/50 truck ignition switch bezel (0A-11580) listed on page 57 of his 1948/56 Ford truck repro parts catalog (2011 paper version) @ $15.00.
This bezel is also the same as 1949/50 Ford Passenger Cars / Call DC @ 800-476-9653, order this catalog...it's free.
