Question on NAPA Gold filters and/or OEM filter cap part number???

Ok, first off, I know the OEM Racor filters are best. That is what I buy. With that said, I bought an '06 recently that has a NAPA Gold filter (filter with cap assembly) on it. My question is, can I change just the filter media with a NAPA gold cartridge, or use a Racor element in it? I guess my question is whether the NAPA Gold cap is the same as the OEM cap or not. If the cap cannot be reused, what is the part number for the OEM cap, because I have 5 or 6 Racor elements in my cabinet still.

Thanks!

No it will not fit, the napa cap is alot taller for one and has a strange insert in it. I have an OEM cap in front of me, and looks like the IH part number is 634102008 but you may want someone to verify, as I suppose that could be a casting number.

Thanks. I actually bought it with the sole intention to resell since I got a really good buy on it. I'll probably Ebay it soon if it doesn't sell locally for a decent price. Its an '06 King Ranch, 150k miles but runs better than my '03. It has a salvage title from a previous accident, but the work was done well and the interior is in great shape. Here's a pic:

Nice looking truck. If I lived closer, I would consider taking it off your hands.

Thank you! Given the cost and the fact I'm selling it soon, I'm thinking about just doing another NAPA Gold filter. Not sure if I can bring myself to do that though...

You could get the pro select from Napa.

Store Locator | NAPA Online

I got an extra cap laying around if you are interested I'll send you a pm.

Please don't do that to a possible future 6.0er. Then they will be here posting what a piece of crap the 6.0 is not knowing that they were cheaped out. Spend the extra couple of bucks and put a Motorcraft in it.

Napa would not be a nice thing to do to someone, even if you did not like them.
And who knows what type of fuel filters it has too.

Getting a cap from gtdan01, thanks! Also, I plan on doing fuel filters and external tranny filter before it goes. I might drain and refill the tranny too, except I'm not positive it has Mercon SP in it (probably does) so I might leave it alone.
