Okay so I called my local ford dealer and they told me they stock replacement injectors and they are $280 with the core being $180 so I think I will play it safe that way if warranty problems become an issue I can go down and talk with them in person rather than someone in another state, going to grab my two on Monday wait until Friday and start around midday and hopefully have both in by Sunday night haha I'm sure you guys will see alot of questions over the weekend from me but it doesnt seem a hard job at all to do, I am also going to do an oil change so fresh oil goes into the injectors rather than whats in already 5w40 rotella t5 I want something synthetic, also I will be putting in fresh coolant since I will be draining it out and do not wish to reuse it so if someone can give me a discription of where the plugs on the block are to drain it out it would be very appreciated, if someone can also give me torque specs for the valve cover bolts it would be very helpful aswell, also what to put on the reusable gaskets like permatex gasket maker? and is there a sequence to bolting up the valve covers like star pattern for example? I went to Home depot and cannot find t40 and t30 torx that are 3" long where else could I look possible that the specific HD did not have them? sorry for the long post
Powerstroker, with the help of this forum and the few threads that walk you through the job I changed out all my injectors. The whole process is straight forward with no surprises if you read Bismic's injector thread. This forum also is a great help in having the right parts and tools. Overall probably saved $1200.
You can get a 4 piece long shank Torx set at Pep Boys and at Harbor Frieght for about $14., but you have to have the turn down the shank diameteron the Torx bit for the injector bolt or it won't fit straight in the bolt head. Very simple to do on any lathe. My friend did it in ten minutes. So there you go, $14 and a few beers.
Good luck! Have fun.
