Question Injector replacement need help please!

Hello I need to replace injectors #2 and #4 in my 6.0 I was wondering if anybody has a walkthrough with pictures or something to help me I cannot afford to pay the dealership $600 dollars just in labor and this is also my only vehicle I must take best care of it as possible also where would be the best place to get good quality injectors for lowest price? I am mechanically inclined I am also extremely nervous to tackle this but it must be done soon anybody who can help me please chime in thank you

not hard to do. #2,#4 are both on the drives side and are the first 2 injectors closist to the radiator.
drain coolant
remove air filter housing
remove coolant jug
remove ficm
remove ficm brackets
remove vlave cover
under the valve cover is the high pressure oil rail
there are to hex plugs on the rail remove the one that is close to the firewall.
remove the high pressure oil rail
disconnent the injectors from the harness and push connectors threw the rocker box
unbolt injectors.

to install
lube injector o-rings with assemble lube or a coating of enigne oil
install and TORQUE the injectors with a REAL TORQUE WRENCH
install connectors threw rocker box.
plug injectors in

then follow the rest of the instructions above in reverse.

can be done in about an hour.. or you first time 4-5 hours.

wow that doesnt seem too bad going to have to buy a torque wrench also where can I find the torquing specs? will I have to drain engine oil aswell? when I take off the oil rail will it spew all over? I think these valve cover gaskets are reusable but you know more than I, should I replace the gaskets or reuse?

reuse the valve cover gaskets. do not do this on a nice clean drivaway it will leave a mess. oil will run out of the rail when removed. fair warning on that.

you will need a few torx sockets. what year is the truck?

ok
you will need a t30 torx bit and a t40 bit thats is about 3" long on the shank. torque spec on the injectors is 24ftlb
also be carefull when installing the oil rail do not use anything to beat it back down with as damage to the injector d-rigs is possible that way.
to remove the oil rail pry up lightly with a scredriver or a small prybar.

Thank you cheezits! I was also told that If I'm having problems with the two injectors that the other two are bound to have problems sooner or later aswell what is your opinion on this? should I do all 4 or the two that currently are problematic

how deep are your pockets? I would just fix whats broken and if more fail later then deal with it then.
have you tried running 5-40 and see if that helps yet as well.
also part of your question I missed its not neccary to change oil when replacing injectors unless its just nasty.

unfortunately pockets are extremely shallow right now, I also have not tried switching oil, orignally truck went into dealership they told me I had a cylinder that was skipping ran diagnostics and detected #2 #4 injectors were problems I have owned this truck for a week bought it from cny auction previous owner installed a wix aftermarket fuel filter which allowed contamination to hit the injectors thats why there telling me the others can become problems and I should replace dont know if there just trying to get money out of me or not but for $2500 dollars it can be fixed, well thats money I do not have and I would rather try it myself for alot cheaper

I would DEFINITELY replace those garbage aftermarket filters with the OEM Ford/Motorcraft FD-4604 filters, along with the UPDATED fuel pressure regulator kit (Ford Part number 3C3Z-9T517-AG). Apparently, with this kit, fuel pressure is regulated to a higher pressure which is a good thing, because low fuel pressure WILL kill injectors. When removing the the high pressure oil rail there are NINE TX-30 bolts to remove. The high pressure oil rail standpipe assembly requires a 1/2" square drive to remove. When replacing it, it needs to be torqued to 60 ft-lbs. Like posted above, the injector hold-down clamp bolts are torqued to 24 ftlbs. The best oil to run on these 6.0L engines are the proper Ford/Motorcraft 10W30 CJ-4 oil, or the Mobil 1 Delvac 5W40 if you don't mind spending the extra money.

Some do, so it is a good chance that you would need new OEM caps.
