Internet Downtime
Just wanted to let everyone know that it was NOT the FTE server that was down for 14 hours.
Rather, an Internet-wide worm hit servers running Microsoft SQL Server (we don't run Microsoft software). Our provider was hit and their upstream pulled some plugs until they resolved it, essentially leaving 3 of the four routes from our server disconnected.
This is a global scale worm. For example nearly 70% of South Korea was down.

Yep!
"Slammer" struck again.
I couldnt get a page on this site to load. It was 375 byte fast moving virus aimed at those microsoft servers. My ISP uses them and apparantly doesnt download patches regularly. They set themselves up and took the hit. I had no access all weekend.
It's supposed to be over now.
Glad to be back.
