I did the conversion over a year ago. I went with HD style lights though, to keep the black theme going. I bought the lights from my local aftermarket supplier and the quality is very good! Also, sticking with the DIY aproach, I bought 9007-H13 adapters on ebay. I did have to do some cutting/splicing, but I'm used to it. I think I did the whole job for less than $140. Then I added HIDs and strobes - the price went up! I cut my 99-04 header panel with a dremel - again, not wanting to spend the money on the 05-07 piece. Took me about an hour for the first side, and about 15 mins for the second.
There is nothing else needed for this mod other than trimming the header panel behind the light. Everything else is plug and play and has been working on mine for quite a while now.
Really? I am not doubting you, Scott, just curious. I contacted the seller once before on this and he said, "yeah, you have to by the clips and bolts for the top of the lights." I can't remember the part number right now, but I have it somewhere.
So yours just bolted right in after trimming the panel?
I really like the looks on all the trucks showing the updated lights, My question is: Do they give you better visability at night?
My '03 lights s**k for night driving. Makes it hard to see the deer coming at you from the fields. Been thinking of different bulbs but the update looks great. Just wondering.

I put my own bolts onto the existing frame and made it adjustable, so I guess you are somewhat correct, the top mount you have to fab or bolt. Heck I have seem some use sheet metal screws and just screw them into place when the light is level.
Well mine do. My 04 King Ranch lights were in great shape but didnt give me near the brightness that these now do. However, I did change the bulbs out with the hyper white type ones.
Scott,
Im looking at doing the same conversion you did to my '99 I was just wondering how you went about doing the grille. Did you use the conversion trimmed grille available off the internet or did you trim the stock one yourself? thanks
Here's a link to my front end conversion including upgraded headlights with relays. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rduty-v10.html I didn't document the process because it's been covered hundreds of time. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks Mr-Pipeline I looked at the link and it looks great. I was curious because I wanted to just change out the headlights and grille to the newer 05+ style keeping the bumper cover and valance that i have. You're right though it has all been covered many times, i was just looking for the short answer. I just ordered heat/signal tow mirrors so there'll by some tinker time in my future to wire those in. Thanks for the input.
I've been stalking this thread for enough time to get inspired and convert my 99 SD to the 07 grille and lights. Thanks Scott for the help through emails, you saved me a lot of pain.
Here's a guide I made to make sure my grinder didn't slip and take off too much of my grille. It is a modified 4" grinder guard from Harbor Freight and I just welded the two brackets to the guard and screwed it onto a block of 2x4 to guide the grinder. Worked like a charm. Cost was $6.00!!!!
Thanks again Scott for your help and encouragement. This is a great forum.

Reserectin' an old thread, my '03's header panel is cracked up (adjustment tabs broken-looks like a rear ender)
Question, so the '05 header panel changes out with '03 with alterations to the center bar, and then I can mount '05 headlights w/ the proper lamp adapters?
