Angry "Winners" vs. "Losers"

Yesterday, when all of the employees where I work got their paychecks, there was another piece of paper, I suppose to help "motivate" us workers. Here it is in full detail :

Winners vs. Losers

When a winner makes a mistake,he says, "I was wrong;"
When a loser makes a mistake,he says,"It wasn't my fault."

A winner works harder than a loser and has more time;
A loser is always "too busy" to do what is necessary.

A winner goes through a problem;
A loser goes around it,and never gets past it.

A winner makes commitments;
A loser makes promises.

A winner says,"I'm good,but not as good as I ought to be;"
A loser says,"I'm not as bad as a lot of other people."

A winner listens;
A loser just waits until it's his turn to talk.

A winner respects those who are superior to him
and tries to learn something from them;
A loser resents those who are superior to him and tries to
find ***** in their armor.

A winner feels responsible for more than his job;
A loser says, "I only work here."

A winner says,"There ought to be a better way to do it;"
A loser says,"That's the way it's always been done here."

I dunno,maybe it's me getting overly offended,but does anybody else find it offensive?!At first when we all saw it,I was really
,but then I thought, it's just arrogant minds thinking they are "superior" to the lowly workers. It isn't the American worker who needs to change their collective outlook,it's those "superiors" who need to take a l-o-n-g look in the mirror. Uh, nobody is perfect. If some people think they poop ice cream,they are only fooling themselves.......it smells like something else to the rest of the World!

"Winners" vs. "Losers"

Usually when management does something like this, there was a specific event that acted as a trigger.

For instance, how many people have had to go to a "sensitivity seminar" because one of your co-workers said something or did something to someone? Those seminars are brutal.

"Winners" vs. "Losers"

When Michelle's Daughter was going through her turbulent years,

I posted this on the corkboard near the back door for her to see everyday when leaving for school.

She is now 21 and has a great work ethic & seems to have a positive influence in other people's lives as well.

Every place she has worked,they tried to get her to stay but, she always wanted to better herself with employment.

So, I guess I don't find it offensive at all.

Have you ever seen what slogans there are outside dressing room doors of NHL Hockey Player's or probably any other Pro teams?

Maybe it is just me and my work ethic, or the fact I have been in management, and always worked in white collar office environment, but I found the whole thing really good.
I copied it and forwarded it because I believe if more people took this attitude towards their jobs and their lives, we would be a whole lot better off than we are now.

Uh, my work ethic is excellent,and yes, some of those things said are good,but I have a problem with people who wear a title thinking they are "superior".Is that superiority at work,of mind, or social status?Just because someone has a title,it does mean they should think of themselves as better than their workers.You're right,if the workplace had better workers,like myself,and others,who are dedicated,get in on time,do the required work(and do it right),don't cause trouble,then we'd all be better off.

I don't think it is offensive - but I think it might annoy people. What concerns me is that when something like this is done it usually means that there was an incident or there are problems somewhere. It may be management's way of saying that a tighter ship needs to be run and those that don't fall in will be falling way out.

Just some food for thought.

Why would anyone with an open mind find that offensive? Is there anything there that is untrue?
I spent years calling on corporations and talking with employees. I found that at the worst companies the employees I talked with referred to the company as "they", whereas the best (Southwest Airlines is an example) referred to the company as "We". Good management knows that good employees are their greatest asset and good employees know that they are a part of a team.

I don't find it offensive, but I don't find it real motivating either. Just one more piece of paper to throw away. If you want to motivate me make that second piece of paper another check .Just thought I would stir this up a bit. My part time job is real good about putting these motivational papers in our checks. If you want to motivate people hire managers with good people and leadership skills. Somebody you can talk to and will listen and honestly try to resolve any problems that are mutually beneficial to employee and employers. I have found a good manager can increase productivity, loyalty, and worker attitude better than those friendly reminders that a lot of inadequately or poorly managed companies use.

"Winners" vs. "Losers"

On the farm I am the boss, so I have no problem there. However, at my job in town, office politics reigns supreme. I actually thought that since I worked at night it would be a bit less noticeable, but I've come to realize that every business has people who think they are superior to their fellow workers and will buy into any scheme they can to improve their own standing. Now, I think that my work ethic is pretty good, but loading trailers with things made of plastic really does'nt rank up there with "life or death" on my scale. I do the best job I can, but when the whistle blows, I am outta there. Not so some of my fellow workers. They feel the need to stick around and listen to the pearls of wisdom that the upper management dispenses, reporting everything that they feel someone else is not doing according to the company way, and placing blame for their mistakes on others. And, honestly, it works sometimes. I can name off at least one supervisor who got to be a supervisor because of his tendency to kiss posterior, and a few others who managed to get "cushy" jobs for the same reason. Upper management buys into it... you all can think of people you have worked with who were the "teacher's pet". To me, that automatically loses them all the respect of a boss who worked his way up and knows whats going on deserves. But, most of the time, the buttkissers will tend to group together and support one another against the non-buttkissers to keep the status quo in their favor. At my job, to be a manager or supervisor, the company wants you to have a college degree "in a relevant field" according to the handbook. I applied to become a shift lead once, and was told that my degree in Ag Business and years of experience were not relevant. The successful candidate was a 20 year old buttkisser with an Associate of Arts degree from a community college. He'd been at the company for less than 5 months. It might be human nature to try and better your situation, but no one who kisses butt to do it deserves any respect. You may have to answer to them, but nobody has to like it. I know that in any company no individual is indespensible, but I also think that everyone should stand up for what they think is right, and in my book, that means letting the buttkissers know what you think of them.

Sorry for the length of this one... did'nt mean to get on a rant.

The way I deal with stuff like this can be summed up in what one of my bosses said a while back. And I do recomend posting this on the company bullitin board.
Which is better, a person who is an 8, or one who is a 6? How about a 6 that know they are a 6? Or an 8 that think they are a 10? Now, which one is better?
