Hey guys I have a question about the engine block heater on my 93' 5.8L Bronco. I was noticing today that there is coolant leaking from the block heater. Is there a screw that I can just tighten up? How hard is it to remove the element and replace the "o" ring? I was looking in my Haynes manual but it does not talk about it. Thanks guys.
There are different kinds but regardless,it has to come out to fix it.
There is an expandable type that bulges as you tighten the center bolt.
There is a butterfly fastener inside type that brings everything tighter as you tighten the center bolt.
You can try loosening a little at a time until you can twist and turn to remove it.
Or you can loosen it right up until it all falls apart and drops out.
We just replaced our block heater in our 94 Bronco with a 302 after the old one blew out accelerating onto the highway. Now the new one is leaking. Pulled the old, applied grease to the o-ring on the new, inserted, seated and tightened the butterfly screw. Did I miss something on the install? Anyone have this happen? Thanks
