Do y'all know what Borg Warner transfer case came with a stock F150 in the sig below. I steam cleaned my truck today, and went crazy underneath. I noticed my transefer case had Borg Warner stamped on it, and some numbers stamped on it but no model number. Any info would be appreciated.
I was gonna let that go, but you're right honney - slip/fixed doesn't change the model number. I have a fixed 1356 from a '96 Bronco and I recently sold a slip 1356 from an '88 pickup. The 1345 was fixed only.
When I lifted my 89 F150 I switched to a fixed rear output yoke transfer case so I could use a double cardan CV at the rear output. The case I bought new had way too much backlash so I contacted Borg Warner and dealt with one of thier engineers. They swapped the cases and sent me one that had the backlash spec. verified.
The case with the fixed rear output yoke by thier numbering system is a 1756 as printed on the invoice. It is also stamped on the tag that is attached to the case. My original case with the slip yoke output is stamped 1356.

Well that's downright funny 'cause I've got two fixed yoke (actually fixed flange) manual shift cases torn down right now and they're both stamped 1356.
I know it's confusing since when I bought the first fixed output yoke case new, it was described as a "Manual shift 1356 with fixed rear output yoke." However with my dealings with Borg Warner the fixed output yoke cases are 1756's. The metal ID tag attached to one of the rear bolts has 1756 plus some other identifying numbers stamped on it. My slip yoke case ID tag has 1356 stamped on it. The numbers on the case castings may have "1356" in them but the ID tag is the identifier. They are the same cases though except for the rear output. Most people know of them as 1356's.

the BW 13-56 t-case was a manual shift (has the lever on the floor) and the 17-56 is the push button t-case. These are the two BW t-cases offered in F-150 to 350s and full sized broncos from 80-96.
