Ok then there is some wrong then cause at a deep stop it is hard as crap to turn the wheels. I have checked the front end out and the only thing bad is the gearbox is a little sloppy. It turns freely when in the air as well.

...and since you had a full system of PS fluid in there, I'd to a 3 quart flush. It normally takes two, but just to make sure you have most of the PS fluid out, running three quarts through is what I'd do.

Ok then well there is something worng somewhere cause mine is. I put it up in the air and everything is good other then the gearbox is kinda sloppy. Its easy to turn in the air so nothing is binding. I dont know im kinda dumb founded right now.

What size are your tires? What tread pattern? It's not too uncommon to have that type of issues with oversize tires.

Of course the first step needs to be getting the correct fluid in there. After that's done, if you still have any issues we can move on.

The steering looses power when the brake is depressed. They both run off the p/s pump.

I'm planning on doing a flush this weekend and was checking out the procedure here.
Looking at the pictures of the hydro boost return and hose and then the nipple with the hose removed I can't figure out how the clear hose is attached to the nipple, as it doesn't look like it slides over it.
I'm probably missing something here but don't wan to get it apart and not have everything I need.

Make sure you are removing the return hose from the hydro boost.. it is the one that is at 2 o'clock standing in front engine looking at the hydro boost.. just remove this hose which is secured with only a spring type clamp and push on your clear hose & route it into a bucket..There is no pressure on this fitting and it should stay on if you have the right diameter clear hose.. (can't remember the exact size but it is around a 3/8" inside diameter.. )

Thanks, it just didn't look like the clear hose in the picture was slid over the nipple.

How much tread do you have on those tires? Less tread = harder to turn. How many miles on the ball joints? More miles = harder to turn.

In the procedure outlined on that site, is the blue rotella T jug catching the old fluid as the pump runs? I'm just slightly confused. Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread.

I had no idea I needed to use transmission fluid for the power steering system. Am I causing damage if I'm using power steering fluid?

Yes the Rotella jug is catching the old fluid. It makes more sense when you start doing it.

Yes you are damaging the system. Flush it out using ATF as described.

Well after having truck for almost 12 years, this site convinced me to do the flush with synthetic ATF. What a difference in steering and breaking. Just like a new truck.
