Need help
I've got a 2005 F250 4x4, normally when i start her up i will idle it for nearly 10 minutes (depending on the circumstances) and let it warm up but i have been noticing that it is severly lacking power until it warms up, and even smoking a worrysome amount of white smoke with a oil like blue tint when accelerating with a cold engine...its not fogging intersections up but not just a little puff. I also noticed really late shifts when cold and took it to a trans shop and they actually reccommended a rebuild which i did, it shifts better now but still very late. It just seems like it has no power when cold, like driving with a plugged cat converter...but i dont have one. There is no oil in the coolant, its not puking any coolant, brand new fuel and oil filters and no codes...somebody help please

Does your exhaust have a sweet smell to it? The symptoms you describe sound like those of a cracked EGR cooler. Pull the EGR valve and look for wetness on the valve and in the intake manifold. Here's a good thread to show you how to do it:https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...egr-valve.html
Also, idling isn't going to warm your truck to operating temperature...just drive it easy for a few miles.

Thank you, i have been reading a lot of threads lately and i am glad there is a place like this with so many knowledgable people on this engine. The exhaust always smells sweet to me, but mostly because i just love the smell of burning diesel. As far as the literal meaning of the word it doesnt smell sweet to me, but that may just be the difference between what i call sweet and you call sweet. The coolant is a transparent golden-brown but very clearly has no oil in it. I will be cleaning the egr valve but the gasket wont be in for about another hour and a half. Thanks for the input anymore would be appreciated.
Also if this is indeed my problem, can i unplug the egr as a temporary fix. If so what kind of smyptoms will i notice and can this be harmful to the engine?

Yea, it looked good. I wiped it out with a rag, but the blue seals on the valve and in the intake both look great, i ran my finger inside the intake seal to check for burrs or anything but it seemed pretty clean. I also didnt say this earlier but when i said it seemed like it was lacking power when cold i meant that i can floor it and it hesitates to get over 3000 rpms and smokes pretty good...been doing it about a week now.

what exactly is a balance/contribution test? Also what should i be looking to pay. Would the injectors explain why its running rough and smoking only when cold though?

How many miles are on the truck, with all that idling and if it has low miles you could also have a sticking turbo too. If that is the case watch your boost guage to not overboost it or you could cause other issues too.
I would see if you could read the codes and see if maybe it has an underboost/overboost code in it. Also see if the dealer can check your injectors like stated above.
If your FICM is going bad that could cause this if its only happeneing when cold. When mine went bad I had lots of smoke, mainly black though, and rough running until warm.
What other mods do you have besides the cat delete?

K&N intake and deleted cat...thats it. The trans tech who rebuilt the tranny said he noticed something odd about an intake temp staying at 61* and never changing... i imagined he pout it on a computer but i didnt really know what to think of that...btw the truck only has 86K on it

Not sure i bought the truck used...however i did notice when i bought the truck that the air filter meter(little yellow plunger that you reset when you change filter) for a lack of a better term, has a clip on the back, for some sort of air or vaccuum thermometer/sensor that has never been plugged in, nor have i ever found the wires to match it. I always assumed it was just a formality with having the K&N but was never sure.
I apologize for my lack of knowledge of the 6.0 but im still getting aquainted with this beast and hopefully get this problem corrected. Did the new flash have a solution for a problem causing similiar symptoms?

So i imagine if i bring it to my local dealership they will understand when i ask them for the newest flash? I am guessing this flash doesnt have a name. I will try this for sure...thanks for your help embry. Any other ideas? I read in another post that a leaky egr cooler woulkd leave a certain residue, i am assuming in the tailpipe? Any more help would be appreciated.
