I think a good place to start would be to get rid of that STP oil filter and replace it with a Motorcraft/Racor OEM filter. Aftermarket filters don't always fit properly and are known to cause problems.

I will definately change it out...i have been watching the oil pressure though and nothing seems funny about it until it drops to zero after the truck dies.

replaced oil filter with motorcraft filter today, checked filter drain plunger to see if possibly the oil was just short cycling and pumping back into the crankcase but plunger seems to be moving freely...dont know what else to do...off to shop tomorrow

i hate problems...
