Sorry to dig up an old post but thought it would be better to post on the same issue then to start a new post.. I torn this apart last night about 4 hours after buying my X to see if i could physicaly see the issue. I can hear the actuator but nothing moves but a little twitch. Also. the metal rod that attaches to the key lock just slides thru that metal peice that it goes in. In b-uno post above this one picture 1 were the blue keeper is. Is that normal. Almost seems like there is a stopped missing on the backside of it. I dont mind replacing all parts with new if thats what needs to be done. As this is the only door that I CAN NOT lock on my X. I got two Actuators that I know I need to replace in the rear doors on both sides. Thinking about doing all 5 and be done with it, or replace what needs to be replaced?
welcome to the world of the new "reliable" cars. anyhow the blue thing i think your talking about looks to me to be just a bushing so it slides smooth on the rod.
well i forced my way thru the stuff in the back and used my 25 torxx to pull that handle off then gorilla pulled the plastic surround off breaking some clips. oh well im getting really frustrated with these actuators.. so now im trying to undo my superglue and bolt i put in the actuator to get it apart from the last repair and fix it again and reinstall it, i think im gonna order a brand new one or 2 and replace them when they come in, but i need one now for the rear hatch as its a major pain to crawl thru the back full of junk.
well heres the actuator motor completely melted down inside, i think the tinfoil mod is a last ditch effort because if it goes again with the tinfoil its done for good it looks like! dang. oh well time to order a new one, but first im gonna try this aftermarket actuator i got laying around and see how it works out.
I believe that you can buy and just replace the motor. I will try to find a source, but you might try your local hobby shop, or go on line.
Well, we went on a spring break trip with the kiddos and the locks were working...I think...mid stop on our trip. We get to our destination and I notice none of the locks will work with the key pad or the inside door switch. I can here some sort of module working behind the dash around where the radio area is when I push the button on the key pad. I figured I would just lock the doors manually so that worked until I got to the passenger side front door and it was jamed such that I could not lock it with either the inside lever or the outside key. I wound up pulling the door apart and finding the actuator was frozen so I removed it and hooked everything back up since we were out of town and would be going to Sea World the next day. I thought once I removed the actuator that the other locks would work with the key pad and/or the switch but nada. I am wondering if anyone here has had this happen before...it has been a year and a half since I did the tin foil mod and wondering if the motors might now be toast in the rest of the actuators.
Stock new actuator getting weak again! Gonna jus unhook the wire and use the key, these things are garbage. Not worth getting stuff stold out of it thinking it locks
