I was able to get a 6.0 litre trans cooler from ebay for about $300 with shipping. My question now is how to install it easily. I see it bolts onto the same mounting brackets as the 7.3, but how do you route the oil lines so they work and not get crimped to reduce flow? Looks like you would have to remove the crossbar below that area to get access. Any help would be appreciated.
No offense bro, but he already knows it mounts up the same way. He said as much in his post...

He was asking how to plumb the new unit in to the existing lines.
BTW, welcome to FTE! I see you're new. When you post up in the threads, ya might wanna consider leaving that link out of your posts. It sure looks like you're advertising for that company.
I highly reccomend the kit from BTS. It comes with everything you need and saves a lot of time and effort. Not to mention, you will probably get a chance to talk to Brian, who is a wealth of knowledge and taught me a few things in our 10 minute conversation.
I made my own kit from left over 3/8ths transmission hose from another project (need about 5-6'), the brass aisle at Home Depot (or was it Lowes?), and about 6" of 1/2" power steering hose. Here are some pics (click the pic):
Thanks for the input all. I still haven't heard from you all if the best way to go is to remove the lower crossbar to get access to the lines, looks to me to be impossible to do this without it.
Thanks for the info Joe,
I spent all of Friday doing this mod as well as the Transgo mod. It went well and got it done by about 7:00. The cooler was actually more difficult than the trans mod, getting the old cooler out was a PITA because I couldn'd get my massive arms down between the radiator and the air cooler to release the hoses, left quite a bit of skin and blood on the radiator fins. Those fins are sharp! It did help greatly to remove that bar below the radiator, mine has 3 nuts on each side. Couldn't for the life of me see how I could get the upper support brackets attached with the original bolts so I just used a couple self tapping sheet metal screws on a long screw bit through the radiator trim. The new cooler had 1/2" nipples as upposed to the 3/8" line in my truck, so I had to deal with that as well.
Glad you got it done- I did my 6.0L IC at the same time, so I had more room to work with I guess. Yeah, I was hoping the webshots pics would help you out. You needed to make 1/2" to 3/8ths 90 deg adapters to put the cooler in. I'm curous why the stock bolt holes didn't work for you. Mine sat right in place and bolted right up.
Keith, that does sound awfully low and I have not heard of anyone getting the 6.0 cooler from NAPA. Are you sure it's not an auxiliary cooler to be used in conjunction with an existing one?
Which transgo kit did you go with Brad? I should probably do one of these shift kits. Was it really that easy to install? I am very hesitant to mess with an auto tranny.
